ABOUT

I've spent about two decades in journalism, media and tech — not just writing the words, but building the systems they rely on to really sing: to sound unmistakably "you", and to unlock momentum for the people reading them.

I got my start at The Associated Press, where speed and accuracy are tantamount in equal measure. I’ve built my career on the foundation that everyone has a story, and it has to hold up to scrutiny. That’s how you build trust.

At Microsoft (MSN), I managed partnerships with dozens of content providers, ensuring that the confluence of brands onto a single platform felt cohesive, high-quality and on-brand for all of us. I led the Microsoft News for Good initiative, creating content packages around social good causes that inspired readers to donate $3M in one year, and scaled it from one market to a global program across 15 markets.

I spent five years as a senior content designer at Meta, working inside one of the most scrutinized, highest-stakes content environments in tech. That's where I learned how to build content that holds up under pressure and at massive scale, operationalize a brand voice, and to make sure both the humans and AI creating it are working from a shared understanding.

As a writer and editor, I’ve covered business, tech, personal finance and travel as a regular contributor to The Seattle Times, Seattle Magazine, The Puget Sound Business Journal, GoBankingRates and more.

I started Bones Content Co. so growing businesses don't have to choose between scaling fast and keeping the craft and integrity that are core to their identity.

Hi, I’m Cody.

My Approach

When we team up, it will be a strong collaboration. We’ll define what your “good” looks like, and create a plan to make it a reality.

Curiosity

I’ll get to know you, your business, your goals, and the “why’s” behind them. You have a good story and I want to hear it.

Point of view

My action plan for crafting the durable structure you need to support the next chapter of your story and beyond.
